1 stick butter 1 cup water 1/4 cup cocoa 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 cups all purpose flour 2 cups sugar
Preheat oven at 375.
Mix butter, water, cocoa, and oil together and bring to a boil. Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Add hot chocolate mixture to dry ingredients. Add eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix well.
Pour into 9x13 pan and bake for 30 min.
Icing: 1 stick butter 1/4 cup cocoa 1/2 cup buttermilk Powdered sugar* 1 tsp vanilla
Bring butter, cocoa, and buttermilk to a boil. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla. Pour over cake while hot.
*Mom buys a bag of powdered sugar and keeps adding it to the icing until it has the consistency that she wants. Usually about 3/4 a bag. You want it to be pourable.
